I don’t want to wind up having simply visited this world.
Mary Oliver, “When Death Comes”
I hope that quote was inspiring and not depressing! It certainly stirred me in a good way, maybe because this time of year I think deeper thoughts than normal. I suspect you do, too.
To simply visit is to observe…take in…to watch…to note. To visit is to acquire experiences and knowledge and then to move on without leaving much of a mark. At least, that’s how I perceive it.
And I don’t want just that. I suspect you don’t either.
I want to do something(s) good and meaningful. I want to contribute in a way to humanity that actually solves a problem, heals a hurt, paves a way, leaves a legacy. I suspect you do, too.
So, can we conspire together, this year, to be contributors and not just acquirers? Can we stay put and throw our weight behind a good thing and not just gawk at the train wreck? Can we integrate calling into career? Can we join and not just visit?
That’s what I want. I suspect you do, too.
Here’s my question and offer. How can I help you with all that? Reach out. Write me back. Forward this to a friend.
And I’ll do my best to point you to your destiny.
Happy New Year, my friend!
